The Value of Tangible

Physical photos are powerful.

At my wedding reception, I received one of the best gifts ever! 2 of our guests approached my husband and me at our reception and gifted us a photo album filled with pictures from our wedding ceremony. The ceremony that had happened just hours earlier! I certainly hadn’t asked for this. Nor, was I expecting it!

The wedding had happened just HOURS earlier.

This one act of presenting us with photos from the most important day of my life made a tremendous impact.  While I knew that many people had taken photos and had them on their cameras (yes, this was before iPhones existed), and, I knew that my photographer was snapping photos by the second, to have something in my hands… something tangible… was amazing!

To look at photos from my wedding ceremony while at my reception, was truly magical!

That photo album came with us on our honeymoon.  I must have looked at it 100 times on our trans-Atlantic flight.  We had it on our coffee table inside our villa in Crete. We had it on our veranda and enjoying looking at it while sipping wine and watching the sunset in Santorini.  I had it in my carry-on to have it accessible on our many flights to and from Europe. I seriously lost count how many times I looked at that album.  But, to have something physical to pick up, carry around, and flip through was such a gift!

So if you think that having your photos just on your phone is enough, think again.  You can really make someone’s day by printing a photo and having it framed, or, creating a cute keepsake book for them to carry around.

Creating something tangible is priceless.
